Ms Richardson, who was Maitland Showgirl for 2015, won the zone competition at Wangi Wangi on Saturday night, where she beat nine other finalists from towns as far away as Lithgow, Oberon and Mudgee.
She will progress to the state finals at the Sydney Royal Easter Show next month.
Maitland Showgirl co-ordinator Margaret Enright said it had been about seven years since a Maitland entrant had made it as far as state level.
“[Ms Richardson] comes from Gresford and she is lovely,” Ms Enright said.
“She is everything you would want a showgirl to be.”
Meanwhile, the entrants in this year’s Maitland Showgirl competition are making their final preparations before the gala night, which will be held on Saturday night.
The 2016 showgirl will be announced at the Maitland Show.
