The second-placed Warriors are away to fourth-placed Thornton in the two-day encounter with a win enough to ensure a crack at the major premiership next month.
But a loss would put them at risk of missing the play-offs all together because they have the bye and receive no points on February 27.
Kurri Weston currently sits on 43, six ahead of Thornton (37), with round 13 combatants Western Suburbs (42) and Northern Suburbs (35) also in the mix.
Wests are coming off the bye and travel to take on Norths at Lorn Park this Saturday and next.
The two-time defending champions put themselves back into title contention on the weekend with an outright result against Raymond Terrace.
Norths are now two points outside the top four with two rounds to play and after clashing with the Plovers they meet fellow contenders Thornton in the last round.
In the other encounter front runners City (50) tackle sixth-placed Raymond Terrace (25) at Jack Collins Oval.
Play starts at 12.30pm.
Eastern Suburbs (11) have the bye.
In other news on Tuesday night the district decided to continue counting Twenty20 results for competition points in third, fourth and fifth grades but not the re-structured second grade.
This leaves City ahead in both seconds and thirds while Raymond Terrace and Northern Suburbs lead fourth and fifth grades respectively.
