Motor enthusiasts from all over Australia will descend upon Morpeth for the event, bringing with them an estimated 700 vintage and modern cars, army vehicles, commercial and lightweight trucks and motorbikes.
Morpeth’s Ian Scott, who is a member of the Maitland Classic Motor Association, will be bringing along his 1943 BMW R75 motorbike from World War II, complete with sidecar (check out videos of our test run of the bike below).
Only 16,500 vehicles of the model were made for the German army to use in the war and the sidecars were fitted with machine guns.
Mr Scott sourced the vehicle from a BMW magazine in 1998, and had it imported from South Africa.
He has restored it and added it to his collection of six assorted motorbikes, bringing it out a few times a year for events or a ride up to Moonan Flat.
Mr Scott is looking forward to showcasing the vehicle at the motorama, and seeing all the other automobiles on display.
Presented by the Rotary Club of East Maitland, Morpeth Motorama will also mark the opening of the Morpeth Antique Centre, bringing back the vintage vibe of the town.
Enthusiasts wishing to display their vehicle will need to arrive by 8.30am with $5 entry fee, and there will be trophies up for grabs on the day.
The display will be open to the public for free from 10am-2pm.
The event will feature entertainment, along with childrens activities, trade stalls, food, cold drinks and coffee.
All proceeds from the event go towards the rotary club and community projects, for display enquiries contact Brian on 0414811943 or for general show enquiries contact Alex on 0411118673.
