While official numbers are still not available, organiser Wendy Franklin said Saturday’s crowd was the biggest she had ever seen.
“Friday, which is usually a more quiet day, was as big as a weekend day,” she said.
“Then we had a huge Saturday.
“I’ve been here seven years and Saturday was the biggest day I’ve seen.”
Ms Franklin said black skies dampened the numbers through the gate on Sunday morning, but by mid-afternoon the crowds were back in force.
While farm machinery sales, one of the event’s central purposes, were high – Ms Franklin said the expanding and changing reputation of Field Days had drawn diverse crowds.
“Gradually we’re seeing people from further afield, such as Newcastle, looking at the event for what it is,” she said.
“Such a short drive for a great day out in the country.
“It’s overcoming that reputation as just a place to buy farm machinery.”
