A local business has raised a significant amount of money for a charity that provides invaluable equipment to hospitals across the Hunter.

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation purchases life-saving equipment through fundraisers and donates it to hospitals across Australia.
Mortgage Choice Maitland and Hunter owner Laurie Anderson and her colleagues worked with the charity to organise a casual golf day in April.
The event raised more than $2000 that will go toward helping Hunter patients.
Ms Anderson said she was inspired to host the charity day after meeting nurses and charity workers.
“ I had dinner with some nurses during the 1200 Ks for Kids ride,” she said.
“Their stories helping local children and parents touched me.
“As a mother I have seen first hand what the medical staff do helping sick children, not to mention managing us parents.”
Ms Anderson said she was particularly interested in helping the foundation because it had a practical, direct and positive impact on patients.
“The equipment needs are nominated by the staff on the ground level meeting a direct need, with Humpty meeting the need where they can has a real benefit to local families,” she said.
“As a business owner it's nice to contribute back into my local community.”
Ms Anderson said she had plans to run a trivia night later in the year to raise more funds for the foundation.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation purchases about 330 pieces of medical equipment each year through annual fundraising initiatives including the Good Egg Lunch, Humpty Balmoral Burn and Great HumptyBall along with the support of individual and corporate donors,
The number of hospitals the Humpty Dumpty Foundation supports across Australia continues to grow.
The foundation currently contributes to 188 hospitals in NSW, 31 in QLD, 16 in VIC, 9 in WA, 8 in SA, three in TAS as well as two in the NT and one in the ACT.
