Orchard joined the Rams for their final home game against Norths on Sunday. Last week the team announced it would use the game to raise funds and awareness for women and children’s refuge Carrie’s Place and awareness campaign White Ribbon.
Labor spokesperson for Domestic Violence and Maitland MP Jenny Aitchison said top level athletes including Orchard and the Rams had taken the campaign to the next level.
“It’s great to see a community lead and community driven initiative,” she said.
“It’s not just passing a bucket around, we’ve had heaps of clubs sign up for educational opportunities and we’ll hopefully get more [White Ribbon] ambassadors around the city.”
