The annual event, known as ERRD Smackdown, attracted skaters from as far afield as Canberra and Port Macquarie.
Six MRD skaters were part of the T16 pot luck lineup that competed on Saturday and Sunday.
K-Penn officiated as line-up manager.
MRD president Doris McGee was blown away by the skaters’ performances.
“All of our girls were incredible,” McGee said.
“It was amazing – our girls joined skaters from four different leagues in a pot-luck lineup and within three games they became a team.
“I think we shocked a lot of people.”
Diminutive jammer Smasha Bulka made an impressive debut at the event.
“She is so strong and agile,” McGee said. “She can get into the smallest places, but when the big girls hit her she stays up.”
McGee said Bulka’s debut was all the more impressive as she played three games across two days and recorded a success rate of around 30 per cent achieving lead jammer status.
“That’s amazing for her first three bouts,” McGee said. “She impressed everyone.”
McGee also made mention of Tiny Tempah, who returned to the bouting track on the weekend after a three-year hiatus.
“She joined with our last fresh meat intake,” McGee said.
The bouts were live-streamed across the weekend on Down Under Derby TV.
The MRD skaters were Doris McGee, Shelstarr, Tiny Tempah, Kimmy KaBoom, Smasha Bulka and DVS.
MRD now boasts almost 40 skaters and has seen a recent boom in membership.
“It’s just word of mouth,” McGee said.
The league recently secured the representative coaching talents of Arson Junk, or AJ, who represented Australia in the men’s Wizards of Oz lineup at the World Cup.
“He’s come out of retirement for this,” McGee said. “He’s intense but unreal.”
MRD is now working towards hosting its first home bout, Nightmare Before Christmas, which will feature MRD’s Junkyard Jerks taking on Coffs Coast Roller Derby on November 19 at Cessnock Toyota Stadium.
