Trudy Edmonds has become just the second Benhome resident to turn 100 in the aged care home’s 150 year history.

Mrs Edmonds notched up her century surrounded by friends and family at the home on Friday.
Her family made quite the crowd at the gathering, as Mrs Edmonds has a large number of relatives.
She married Harry Edmonds in 1933 and went on to have five children, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great, great-grandchildren.
Mrs Edmonds was born and raised in Horseshoe Bend, and also lived at Tenambit, Tea Gardens and Rutherford.
Mrs Edmonds’s son Ron said he had fond memories of his mother while growing up, especially from the family’s regular camping trips.
“She’s been a magnificent mother,” he said. “She’s had a beautiful life with us.”
The 100-year-old has been a resident of the Regent Street aged care home for the past six years.

Benhome activities coordinator Cheryl Gore said Mrs Edmonds had made a great deal of friends in that time with her wit and great sense of humour.
Mrs Edmonds was showered with balloons, letters from dignitaries, flowers and chocolates on her big day along with a big ‘100’ cake.
