The increased investment comes after the NSW Government agreed to spend $219 million of Gonski funding next year.
Gonski is an education funding allocation which came after an independent review in 2014 found children were missing out due to a lack of resources.
The major beneficiaries of the funding include Maitland High ($295,640 increase from 2016), Rutherford High ($412,617 increase from 2016) and Thornton Public School ($253,485 increase from 2016).
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald said the extra resources would allow principals to “better meet the unique needs of their students and the school community.”
“Schools in the Maitland electorate will continue to employ additional teachers with expertise to assist students who need extra support in key learning areas like literacy and numeracy,” he said.
