Last night councillors discussed a request from the owners of the Hunter Mall to provide patrolled public car parking with the privately owned parking areas of the shopping complex which houses Kmart, Best and Less, Kmart Auto and Supercheap.
Maitland council general manager David Evans told the meeting that traders will be notified. “It’s the workforce in the city centre who have the car park full by 8.30 every morning,” Mr Evans said. “It’s a convenient cool, sheltered, dry car park.”
Fines will be issued by council rangers and processed through the Office of State Revenue.
