The well-known couple, who were the driving force behind the inaugural Pokolbin Pride Festival and founders of Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen, were married in front of friends and family in the Hunter Valley.
Matt’s supermodel sister Miranda Kerr was his bridesmaid for the special event. She attended the wedding accompanied by her husband-to-be Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel.
The couple and their families used the happy day as an opportunity to again push for marriage equality, something Kerr and Wright (now also Kerr) have been vocal about since stamping their mark on the Hunter region.
“Let's make 2017 the year that everyone gets to do 'I do' #australianmarriageequality,” Jimmy wrote on social media.
Therese Kerr, Miranda and Mathew’s mother, also wrote a powerful message about the union on her Instagram account.
“Through the universal power of love that is and surrounds all of us, yesterday @mattykerr26 @jimmykerr2611 were married in front of 284 of their much loved and treasured family and friends in Australia,” the post said.
“Even though Australia with its archaic beliefs does not yet recognize same sex marriage, in our eyes, in the eyes of Matty and Jimmy's family and friends and by the law of the universe that overrides all, Matty and Jimmy are married and have started a new and beautiful life together. We don't need an Australian Government or a law to tell us what love is or isn't.”
Congratulations Jimmy and Matty!
