Lincoln Keith Ryder entered the world at 2.43am on January 1.
His mother Michelle, formerly of North Carolina in the United States, named her son in honour of her famous ancestor – president Abraham Lincoln.
Mrs Ryder, along with husband Aaron, ducked into the shops on the way to Maitland’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display when contractions began.
“I thought we’d wait until the new year,” Mr Ryder said.
“But I was determined to have him before Trump was inaugurated,” Ms Ryder added with a laugh.
“Lucky he was born under the Obama administration.”
Lincoln was born at 3.29kg/7.25lbs.
