Terrace posted 8-210 with Brandon Smith top scoring with 87 and Jaymes Thomas scoring 52 as the tail also made valuable contributions.

Skipper Nick Savage led the attack taking 3-9 from six overs as the Griffins were dismissed for 107 in the 40th over.

All seven bowlers used by Terrace took wickets. Aaron Sherritt took 2-23 from four overs and Savage was particularly impressed by young spinner Mitchell Pinch’s 10 overs which netted 1-29.

The win was Raymond Terrace’s third win in a row dating back to their round-four victory against Thornton.

They have the bye and their round-seven fixture against Western Suburbs was washed out, but Savage says they have found and are enjoying the winning habit.

“The win against City United was pivotal for us,” Savage said.

“It’s given us a real sense of belief and great momentum which we have been able to take into the New Year.

“We got the win against Thornton, but the City victory really gave us that winning habit.

“We had trained hard and really well up to that stage but luck just didn’t go our way.

“That’s changed and we are holding our chances, batting well and bowling and field well as a team.

“We have Norths next week in a one-dayer at home which will be a big test for us. It’s not make or break but it certainly would be good get the result.”
