Meeting held to oppose public-private partnership for new Maitland Hospital

A meeting will be held on Thursday to send a strong message to the state government about the new Maitland hospital.

The meeting, which starts at 12.30pm, will voice the city’s opposition to a public-private partnership. 

Seven months ago the government announced the $400 million Metford Road facility would likely run under that model.

But in a shock twist, new Health Minister Brad Hazzard revealed last week that all funding models are back on the table, including working with the private sector.
