Saturday night’s victory at the Maitland Federation cements the Mustangs in second spot on the Waratah Champions League, behind the unbeaten Sydney Comets.
The game was tight from the start with the Mustangs leading 41-36 at half-time.
Tyler Monroe again led the way for the Mustangs with his fifth double-double from five games.
Monroe scored 27 points and collected 12 rebounds to lead Maitland in all categories including two assists.
Josh Clifford and Jack Edwards both made strong contributions landing 16 points each to go along with five and four rebounds respectively.
Terrell Turner scored nine points and Daniel Millburn and Nick Scott contributed eight and six from the bench.
Former Mustang Goran Veg led the way for Hills with 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
The competition takes two week’s break with the Mustangs’ next game on the road against the Illawarra Hawks on Saturday, April 8.
The Mustangs Youth Men went down to the Hornets on Saturday.
Their next game is against Inner West Bulls at the Ryde Community Centre on April 8.
The Mustangs women share top spot with Bathurst Goldminers and Shoalhaven Tigers. Their next game is on April 8 against Coffs Harbour Suns.
The women’s first home game is on April 22 against the St George Saints.
