Businesses that Fairfax Media spoke to said sales were strong, crowds were healthy and there were plenty of dollars going into the tills.
Owner of Lavenders Cafe in The Levee Stephanie Purdon said her business was busy.
“We were open on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday and had brilliant trade,” Mrs Purdon said.
Manager of Noni B, Maitland, Michelle Sales said the long weekend trade was great for Maitland.

“We were open on Saturday only and had a busy day,” Ms Sales said.
“Noni B had a fabulous day, about 40 per cent up from last year’s takings.
“I believe great weather played a big part in the day’s success. Maitland on a whole was very busy and Kmart was extremely busy.”
Josh Murphy from The Belmore Hotel said some shoppers worked up a thirst.
“We were open on all four days of the Easter long weekend and enjoyed good trade,” Mr Murphy said.
Stockland Green Hills centre manager Chris Travers said the shopping centre experienced above average trade for the lead up to the Easter long weekend with fresh food the key winner ahead of Good Friday.
“We are now gearing up for our first stage opening next week and look forward to welcoming the community into the new mall which will include more stores, more services and better access for our customers,” he said.
“As part of this first stage opening there will be a host of entertainment, activities and retailer specials for the community to enjoy across Thursday, Friday and the weekend including a candle making workshop, daily live cooking demonstrations and character appearances from Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
The good trading news comes almost two years after some Maitland traders held a protest rally after Mayor Peter Blackmore urged “knockers” of The Levee to stop whingeing and to take a big picture view of the plan.
At the time Cr Blackmore said The Levee would be a success and appealed to business operators to embrace it.
