The health committee was formed more than 10 years ago to represent the community and ensure local health needs were met by the health service.
Chairperson Abby Crawford said the new hospital was a major issue for the committee.
“The new hospital is of critical importance to our community,” she said.
“The Maitland Health Committee has lobbied for and will continue to represent the voice of the community in seeking assurances as to the effective delivery of health services to the community.
“[We will] continue to seek community consultation on health planning and delivery.”
The committee is made up of community members as well as representatives from Maitland Council, Hunter New England Health and community health services.
The committee does not manage the operations or scoping for the new hospital but will forward any appropriate feedback to the relevant place.
Feedback can be submitted at www.maitlandhealthcommittee.com.au/the-new-hospital.
