The Crawford Brothers have come a long way since their earliest performances in the pubs around their native Hinton.
Just this year they were nominated for the John Lennon original songwriting prize off the back of their first EP and they’re hard at work on their second.
“This project has been a work in progress over the past 24 months as we’ve been throwing around different song ideas, adding new sounds and experimenting with new themes and instrumentation,” frontman Ben Crawford said.
“Our new music is slightly more intricate this time around as the writing process has been much more in depth.”
Crawford said audiences can expect it to push toward a stadium sound this time around.
“We’ve used more elaborate soundscapes, electronic elements and vocal sections in the songs but the catchy melodies and edgy guitar riffs are all still in the mix,” he said.
On Friday night the band will step away from the mixing desk for a live show at Newcastle’s Cambridge Hotel.
“Performing live with my band is an untouchable feeling,” Crawford said, promising a “rollercoaster” of a live show.
“You feel so much adrenaline especially when the crowd is pumping and there’s so much energy bouncing back and forth on stage.
“We aim to give our songs a breath of fresh air when we perform them live and often intertwine our tracks with instrumental sections, big drum breakdowns and lead solos.
“We’ve also teamed up with our mates from Trouble In Paradise, The Kylie Jane Trio and Benni P, so it’s going be a massive night of music.”

But the brothers won’t be slowing down any time soon. They’re playing another show in Glebe on June 16 before wrapping up the EP and hitting the road again.
“This is all we’ve ever wanted to do. It’s an amazing feeling. We plan on heading back overseas later in the year to keep finding new audiences and showcase our music internationally.”
