Aberglasslyn minor premiers
Aberglasslyn Ants have claimed the minor premiership in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League Ladies League Tag competition after surviving a scare by Shortland on Saturday.
The Ants finally overrun Shortland 22-10 but it was one of the closest results they have had in a season they have dominated winning all 15 of their games to date.
With only three rounds remaining the Ants claimed the minor premiership courtesy of a three-game break and massive for and against difference over second-placed University of Newcastle.
Maitland United are also close to booking a spot in the finals, sitting eighth with a seven win, eight loss record after beating Waratah Mayfield 28-12 on Saturday.
United are a game clear of Umina but have an inferior points differential. They play Cardiff on Sunday.
