Two male youths, aged 14 and 15, were arrested in Rutherford on Friday afternoon after a foot pursuit through backyards. It is alleged the boys had earlier stolen confectionery from a Rutherford supermarket, a location which they had been banned from. It is also alleged the boys were in breach of current bail conditions. Both were charged with stealing, trespassing and breaching bail. Both were refused bail and placed before the courts.

P Plater speeding
Maitland Highway Patrol Officers allegedly detected an 19 year old, P2 motorist travelling at 150km/h in a 110km/h zone on the M1 at Black Hill at midday Saturday. The young man was fined and had his licence suspended immediately for 3 months.
Theft of wheel

Surrender of firearms continues
Over the week a number of firearms have been surrendered to police. These include two shotguns and a rifle that were surrendered by a Maitland man who stated that they had been owned by his now deceased father. Readers are reminded the amnesty regarding handing in weapons lasts until the end of September 2017.
CCTV led to arrest
On Wednesday night a well known business at Beresfield had a traffic sign stolen from the car park. Luckily the area was covered by CCTV and a vehicle was spotted on camera. Police followed up the matter, retrieved the sign and have issued an infringement notice to a 33-year-old man for stealing.
