McKenney has delighted audiences as the original star of the musical The Boy From Oz in 1997 and has been shaking Allen’s maracas in various guises ever since.
Twenty years on, McKenney pays homage to Peter Allen in his live event, Todd McKenney Sings Peter Allen: The Piano Sessions.
The anniversary tour has been extended regionally and arrives at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, October 21.
The Piano Sessions invites fans to get up close and personal in an intimate, relaxed setting.
There is just McKenney himself, Michael Rohanek on grand piano, Ralph Marshall on bass, additional vocals from the amazing Lisa Callingham, and Allen’s fantastic songs.
It just completed two sold out nights at The Sydney Opera House, with audiences raving about McKenney’s performance and showmanship.
As well as singing all of Allen’s biggest hits including Not The Boy Next Door, (I Go to) Rio, I Honestly Love You, Tenterfield Saddler and I Still Call Australia Home, McKenney will tell stories about meeting Allen and also his experiences playing him on stage.
Audiences are encouraged to ask questions and even score the Dancing With The Stars judge if they like (bring your judge’s score cards – he’ll cop it sweet!).
Tickets are available at the box office.
