That’s the challenge confronting Maitland dentist Genevieve Nawrot, who will unicycle alongside two friends from Sydney to Wollongong in November to raise funds for multiple sclerosis.
The trek over hilly terrain will be the longest non-stop ride Genevieve, who works at Rutherford Dental, has undertaken.
Unlike biking, unicycling requires constant pressure on the pedals to moderate speed – meaning she doesn’t get to coast down hills either. Genevieve, who started cycling while at high school, said that was part of the appeal.
“You have to be focused all the time – if you don’t pay attention for a second, you’ll come off,” she said. Donations can be made at msgongride.org.au
