Thompson finished with 4-25 and tore through the heart of Kurri Weston’s middle order.
But the other star of the match, Warriors No.3 Simon Marshall prevailed and his 69 gave his side enough runs to secure a narrow 12-run victory.
Batting was difficult as overcast conditions favoured bowlers and wet outfields meant batsmen didn’t get value for their shots.
The Belmore’ David Thompson defied the odds to make 90 not out in his side’s 54-run win against Seaham in C-grade.
Only three other batsman made half-centuries on Saturday with Josh Moxey making 63 for Port Stephens in A-grade, Ricky Dent making 56 in his first grade debut for City United and Aaron Golledge compiling 50 for Wests in fifth grade.
Port Stephens first XI paceman Matthew Monaghan had a big day taking 5-7 against the Pythons second XI.
Craig Clark claimed 5-14 to do the damage for The Blemore against Seaham in C-Grade. City United first grader Ben Davies collected 4-21, Paterson’s Stephen Priestley finished with 4-28 and Port Stephens second XI bowler Tyran Eveleigh claimed 4-29.
