Carrie’s Place assists people from Maitland and the Lower Hunter who are experiencing domestic violence, by providing accommodation, counselling, legal and emotional support, and emergency groceries to those in need.
“Christmas is a stressful time for many people, and our Guides at Kurri Kurri would like to assist Carrie’s Place to make it a little happier for people in our local area who are experiencing violence in their lives,” Kurri Kurri Girl Guides district manager Dianne Bailey said.
Items that Carrie’s Place would appreciate at this time of the year are toiletries, non-perishable food items, Christmas gifts suitable for newborn children to teenagers, childrens’ new socks and underclothes.
The collection will take place at the Kurri Kurri markets in Rotary Park from 9am to 11am.
In the event of wet weather, items can be dropped at the Girl Guide Hall (116 Lang Street) at the same time.
For more information, call Dianne on 4936 1903 or visit the Kurri Kurri Community Markets Facebook page.
