But, a recent trend of hay bale creations has been catching on, with the fun idea appreciated by adults and children alike.
One such display on Oakhampton Road has been causing drivers to slow down and take a look.
It features painted reindeer and Santa hay bale figures with a present, accompanied by a lit up Christmas tree by night.
Creator Joe Gollan said he was inspired after seeing hay sculptures at European cycling events.
“That’s where the concept came from,” he said, adding it was a hit with his two young children, not to mention those who saw it as they drove by.
“The kids love it.”
Mr Gollan said it was nice to sit down of a night and see cars slowing down to see the display.
“Usually the back window goes down and it’s the kids and they really appreciate it,” he said.
