The recycling centre, located at Kurri Golf Club, means nearby residents can now deliver their plastic and glass bottles and containers for a 10 cent refund.
The Kurri facility is under 24 hour surveillance to protect against vandalism, while an access ramp and decking is still to be installed.
The Kurri Kurri development comes after another Return and Earn facility was opened at Cessnock Woolworths.
Maitland residents can also now access a Return and Earn collection point at Tenambit Takeaway. The takeaway food store is one of 500 of collection points set to operate around the state, in conjunction with 800 return and earn machines.
