And, on February 10, Maitland will be treated to these experiences and more from countries around the world at the Riverlights Festival.
One particular aspect of different cultures is the games they play, and the North Sudanese are no exception.
As well as sharing their favourite dishes at the festival, the group will give visitors the opportunity play the popular Sudanese board game mancala.
Sami Kodi, who moved from Sudan to Australia in 2005, will be among those sharing about the country’s culture at the event.
On Friday, he showed his children, nieces and nephews, how to play Mancala on a custom made board.
There will be plenty on offer when Riverlights returns next month.
