Last week Mr Chipperfield told Fairfax Media he opened an account at The Greater with $200.
For the next 30 weeks he will deposit $10 a week into the account and present the final total to club president Frank Lawler in September. He called on 99 other supporters to do the same. His plan was applauded by readers on Facebook and by club president Frank Lawler.
Mr Chipperfield said friends and relatives have said they will follow suit. He has also received a donation of $500 from a supporter he ran into at his local club.
