The Kurri Kurri Bulldogs paid a heavy price for their courageous 26-20 win against the Pickers on Thursday night with Damien Walters to have surgery today on a broken tibia, fibula and ankle.

Bulldogs president Jeff Polglase said he had spoken to Walters on Saturday and he was in good spirits.
"He is the type of bloke who accepts things and moves on. We will know after the surgery what his recovery time will be," Polglase said.
The Bulldogs other injury worry, five-eighth Ben Wyborn is recovering from a bad cork and will undergo a fitness test to see if he can play against the Macquarie Scorpions next Saturday
The Weston Bears had a very Good Friday with a 2-1 win against the Lambton Jaffas.
Jason Cowburn's header in the ninth minute was the perfect start for Weston who held a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Lambton's Jobe Wheelhouse levelled the scores in the second half with a fine strike, but shortly after in the 70th minute Jamie Subat extended the Bears lead to 2-1 from the penalty spot.
