There are certain boxes that Groovin likes to tick - an international hip hop headliner (House of Pain, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Dizzee Rascal), a headline dance act (Disclosure, Digitalism, Adrian Lux), an international indie-pop headliner (The Kooks, Example, Kaiser Chiefs), a heavier inclusion (Karnivool, The Amity Affliction, The Bronx, Parkway Drive) and a host of quality Australian acts - both bands and DJs.
Groovin the Moo provides something for most musical tastes, and always nails an entertaining mix that contributes to each event's party atmosphere.
Before listing my 2015 Groovin the Moo line-up predictions, I'd like to reiterate that I have not been privy to any inside information.
I have absolutely no idea who will be announced.
But it's fun to guess anyway.
My January 2014 predictions did include some correct guesses: Disclosure, The Jezabels, Illy, Vance Joy and Wave Racer.
Groovin the Moo's Australian dates run from Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, May 10.
It visits Maitland on Saturday, May 9.
Foster the People
The Californian trio would be the perfect headliner for Groovin the Moo and have probably been on the festival's radar for quite a few years. The band were here for Splendour in 2014 to promote second record Supermodel and have only ever played major cities in Australia. Most compellingly, Foster the People have a Groovin the Moo-sized gap in their tour schedule between Lollapolooza Brazil in March and California's BottleRock festival in May.
Dillon Francis
The American electronic producer released debut album Money Sucks, Friends Rule in October 2014 and is globe-trotting to festivals around the world. His shiny summer beats are purpose built for stages like Groovin's Moolin Rouge dance tent.
Major Lazer
These guys are global festival staples and have been to Australia many times over the years. And they're very active in 2015, with inclusion on the Lolapalooza Brazil bill on March 28 and then on to Las Vegas on Sunday, June 14. That's a big Groovin the Moo-sized gap!
Parquet Courts
Last year Brooklyn quartet Parquet Courts released their acclaimed and raucous third record Sunbathing Animal and played one Australian show at Splendour In The Grass. In 2015 the post-punk indie-rockers are booked solid until California's Coachella festival on Friday, April 17. That gives them time to fly to Australia and jump on the Groovin The Moo wagon.
Chet Faker
Chet Faker is conquering the world. And his recent performance on Ellen will only see his star rise further. Faker has South American and European tour dates locked in for 2015 - but has a noticeable gap in his schedule between Lollapalooza Argentina on March 21 and his arrival in France on June 2.
San Cisco
Australia's summery pop darlings are gearing up to release their second record and have played Groovin The Moo before. Festival crowds love them and they would be perfect for Groovin 2015.
Flight Facilities
The Aussie electronic duo of Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell have been busy touring their acclaimed debut record, Down To Earth, and are touring America from February 20 to March 15. No dates have been announced after that. Are they on the Groovin bill?
DZ Deathrays
These two lads deliver high-octane punked up rock that always gets the party started and their single Gina Works at Hearts is going off on radio. They have Australian major city dates announced up until March 15, so it makes sense that they might then jump on Groovin's regionally focused tour.
The Preatures
Amazingly, slick synth-rock group The Preatures are yet to play Groovin the Moo. They seemed a sure thing for 2014. So surely they're a shoe-in for 2015? They have UK dates announced until March 14.
Seth Sentry
Aussie hip hop favourite Seth Sentry has given fans a taste of his second record with single Run and is touring widely throughout March. However Groovin the Moo is a chance to play to his younger fans who might not sneak into the 18-plus venues of his upcoming regional tour.
Client Liaison
Melbourne duo Harvey Miller and Monte Morgan are flying high on their a wave of classic synth-pop with a take on '80s disco and '90s house that encourages non-stop partying. Groovin the Moo would be a perfect way to expand their fanbase.
DMA's
The raw, Brit-rock influenced trio DMA's emerged from Newtown and signed to label I Oh You and Mushroom Publishing before they had barely played a live show. Their popularity is quickly spreading and they are no doubt on Groovin the Moo's radar.
Pond
Aussie psychedelic rockers Pond are gearing up to release their anticipated second album. Led by former Tame Impala member Nick Allbrook, and also featuring the group's drummer Jay Watson, the four-piece's sunny, dreamy grooves would add great vibes to the Groovin experience.
Tkay Maidza
The next 12 months are shaping up to be big for this 18-year-old electro-rap dynamo from Adelaide. Her radio singles U-Huh and Switch Lanes are inventive and energetic hybrids rife with world music influences, and echo of artists like Azealia Banks and M.I.A. Maidza will be a go-to artist for most music festivals in 2015.
The Smith Street Band
Lyrical punk rockers The Smith Street Band have a very passionate following and word-of-mouth has seen the popularity grow. They are touring Australia nationally this month before touring the USA from March 18 to April 11. Back in time for Groovin the Moo!
Lurch & Chief
Melbourne six-piece rock group Lurch & Chief are a group to keep your eye on. Their second EP Wiped Out is out now and their big guitar-driven anthems are likely to be heard at many festivals in 2015.
Cosmo's Midnight
Sydney's spacey electronic duo Cosmo's Midnight are even more chilled out than fellow modern Aussie electronic artists like Rufus and The Kite String Tangle. And with their tracks increasingly played on Triple J there's no doubt Groovin punters would love to check out their live show.
Without any further ado, here's my prediction of this year's Maitland Grooin the Moo line-up:
FOSTER THE PEOPLE + MAJOR LAZER + DILLON FRANCIS + CHET FAKER + PARQUET COURTS + FLIGHT FACILITIES + SAN CISCO + DZ DEATHRAYS + THE PREATURES + SETH SENTRY + DMA'S + POND + CLIENT LIAISON + LURCH & CHIEF + THE SMITH STREET BAND + TKAY MAIDZA + KIM CHURCHILL + COSMO'S MIDNIGHT + STICKY FINGERS + ALISON WONDERLAND + HIATUS KAIYOTE + HAYDEN JAMES + ALLDAY + TROPHY EYES + THE OWLS
