In the Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League the Maitland Rams were beaten 8-4 by The Entrance on the Central Coast on Sunday.
Rams skipper Matthew Brown, Ben Urquhart, Matt Hooson and Glen Meehan were the goal scorers.
UPDATE: The Maitland Blacks have cracked their first win of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union season with a 25-21 victory over Nelson Bay at Marcellin Park on Saturday.
Substitute and two-time Anderson Medal winner Adam Perkins scored a try with 10 minutes remaining to put Maitland ahead by one before five-eighth Ryan McCormack kicked a penalty goal to extend the margin.
Over at Maitland Federation Centre on Saturday night and the Maitland Mustangs were downed 88-65 on the basketball court by the Sutherland Sharks in the Waratah Championship League.
PREVIOUS: The Maitland Pickers and Kurri Kurri Bulldogs catch-up games for this weekend have been cancelled due to rain and the condition of Townson Oval and Lyall Peacock Field respectively.
The Pickers were to face South Newcastle Lions on Sunday and the Bulldogs were pitted against Macquarie Scorpions on Saturday in fixtures postponed due to the April superstorm.
The Maitland Magpies and Weston Bears youth fixtures scheduled for Saturday have also been cancelled, but both clubs are still hopeful their grounds will recover for Sunday's senior games.
