The 17-year-old from Allandale was part of the NSW team that claimed the Pizzey Cup, a prestigious national schools competition which has featured the likes of Pat Rafter, Todd Woodbridge and Casey Dellacqua.
George displayed impressive form dropping only one doubles match during the tournament before going onto win a separate singles competition in Adelaide, winning the repechage round after being knocked out of the main draw by the eventual champion.
The year 12 student at All Saints College, St Mary’s Campus, Maitland, has also received the Pierre de Coubertin award, named in honour of the Olympic founder, for displaying the ideals of sport and fair play.
