At 4pm Friday – 4/4/14 – the Kurri Kurri-raised country music sensation will marry her long-time boyfriend in a traditional ceremony at Pokolbin.
“Four is my lucky number and we’ve also been engaged for four years, so this seemed like the obvious date for us,” Akers said.
“And no, I’m not singing a dedicated song. However, I do think a jam session will be on the cards.”
Akers, 26, and fiance Jesse Anderson, 25, met almost two decades ago in kindergarten and have been a couple since high school.
And despite his lack of love for the spotlight, Mr Anderson has been by his girl’s side as she won 2007 Toyota Star Maker followed by the prestigious Golden Guitar Award in 2008.
The two now split their time between Nashville and their home in the Hunter Valley.
“Jesse has been with me through it all and he fits right in in Nashville,” the self-described cross between Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynne said.
“He’s very down to earth and he doesn’t like the spotlight, which is great for me because he keeps me grounded.
“I don’t think I could be with another musician.”
