The Gresford Billy Cart Derby is on Easter Saturday, beginning at 9am.
This is an event for the whole family, with exciting billy cart races and gumboot throwing.
The billycart racing involves many varied constructions, including the cow and pig carts.
There is also the flying coffin.
Gresford Rural Fire Service will again run the barbecue with the best steak and onions in the Hunter.
Then you can explore the various market stalls and their wares.
There are amusements for the children and just for dad there is a monster raffle, the prize being a toolbox full of tools worth $700.
The Billy Cart Derby in Park Street, East Gresford, starts from 9am and it is free. Entry fees are for derby racers only.

Groovin The Moo story at gallery
Maitland Regional Art Gallery presents Groovin: The Story of Groovin The Moo until May 25.
This free exhibition is presented by Cattleyard Promotions in conjunction with the gallery– a multi-media exhibition featuring graphics, objects, video, music and writings from the Groovin The Moo music festivals.
The visually and technically diverse collection of exhibits has been curated to allow the visitor to gain insights into the artistic process that unfolds before, during and after a music festival.
The gallery is at 230 High Street and the exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

All Tied Up at clothing museum
All Tied Up at the Australian Museum of Clothing and Textiles is an exhibition and exploration of ties and neck wear and the parts they have played in interaction and identity.
This museum is in John Street, East Maitland and it is open from 10am to 2pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – with group bookings by appointment.
The cost is $3 per person and the exhibition closes on July 20. There are many quirky and unusual ties and the exhibition includes hands-on activities.

Fun with movie characters
Get ready for a crazy adventure during the school holidays at Hunter Valley Gardens with those Despicable Me 2 characters Stuart and Jorge.
Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Despicable Me 2 character for a chance to win two family passes to Hunter Valley Gardens each day.
The gardens in 2090 Broke road, Pokolbin, are open from 9am to 5pm each day and the Despicable Me 2 characters will emerge between 11am and 1pm.
The cost is: $26 for adults, $22.50 concession, $15 for a child aged from four to 15, $57 for two adults and a child.

Buy handmade goods at market
Handmade in the Hunter market is a small, country market located in the rose-lined gardens of Kevin Sobels Wines, on the corner of Broke Road and Halls Road, Pokolbin.
It is a community of artists, cottage crafters and local growers who showcase what the Hunter has to offer. Stallholders are a creative and industrious group and because everything is handmade, when an item is sold, a new one is made.

Lest We Forget art exhibition Morpeth Art Gallery will hold a Lest We forget exhibition as a tribute to our servicemen and women.
The exhibition at 5 Green Street continues until Easter Sunday.
It will continue again next week, from April 24 until April 27.
There will be paintings of the Light Horse, planes from both world wars and Vietnam in a tribute to veterans.
The Morpeth Gallery is on the first floor, which is reached only by stairs.

Morpeth, on the banks of the Hunter River, was once one of the busiest trade ports in NSW.

Take a canoe trip at the wetlands
Pursue a canoeing adventure on the Ironbark Creek this Sunday.
The Hunter Wetlands canoe trail extends over two kilometres and provides visitors with a wonderful chance to explore Ironbark Creek that surrounds the Hunter Wetlands Centre site.
Paddle to the rainforest area and discover a fascinating diversity of wildlife living both above and beneath the canoe trail waters.
Due to popular demand, the Wetlands are now running tours on the first and third Sundays of the month, at 9.30am, which means this Sunday. Hunter Wetlands Centre is off the roundabout on Sandgate Road at Shortland. The cost is $30 for adults and $20 for children.
