Replaced with ribbons, bridal dolls are no more, and neither are a collection of other trinkets the Morpeth CWA will showcase during a special old-time luncheon.
There’ll be Enid Blyton books on show, hairdryers that came in a large carry case, salt and pepper shakers shaped into animal figurines and an ornate 70-year-old christening dress owned by branch president Heather Whyburn.
“We were all sitting around at a meeting thinking of ideas; one of the members mentioned she got her grandchildren to clean out one of her cupboards and they were asking what each of the things were,” Ms Whyburn said.
She said one member’s grandchildren didn’t know what a radio was.
“It’s really about things that aren’t used anymore or that are not in production,” Ms Bradfield said.
Along with the nostalgic items, the branch will have a table of strange bits and bobs from the past and members will have to guess what their function was.
Guests will be taken on a step back in time to the good old days and are invited to bring along the items that have special significance to them.
The Remember When luncheon will be held at the Catholic Hall in Morpeth on July 22. All are welcome.
