Racing at Maitland this afternoon will feature two heats of the Maitland Mercury Maiden Series.
Fantastic Sid is the favourite in the first heat in what will be his debut.
The black dog ran a performance trial at Maitland earlier this month in a blistering 25.26 seconds and should win comfortably with a similar performance.
Zipping Trigger, trained at Heddon Greta by Daniel Flanagan, will be a good chance of a place after also trialling impressively.
Tick Away Fire is the favourite in heat two despite disappointing on debut at Maitland in June.
The black bitch has been impressive over the 450 metre journey in trials and will be the one to beat, though Galaxia from Warren Bennett’s Tenambit kennels will also be a chance.
There will also be three heats of the Mount Hutton Tab Battlers Sprint for dogs who have not registered a win in their last five starts.
The finals of the Maitland Mercury Maiden Series and Mount Hutton Tab Battles Sprint Series will be held next Thursday.
Elsewhere, Davettes Dynasty will be among the chances in race seven after being ideally drawn out wide.
The fawn dog will jump from box seven and will be hard to beat.
Maitland Greyhound Club sponsorship and promotions manager Fred Robertson said he looked forward to the meet.
Robertson’s best bet of the day is Fantastic Sid in race one.
Racing starts at 3.43pm.
