Although the majority of action, so far, has been in Newcastle and on the Central Coast, there have been questions raised about some developments that affect Maitland people – particularly cutting the rail line into Newcastle.
I add my voice to the many thousands calling for the decision to cut the line to be put on hold until the ICAC has finished its investigations. We must wait to see if there will be any criminal charges.
This is very serious. It comes down to who runs NSW, the MPs or the developers? And who benefits from these developments, the people or the developers.
The ICAC proceedings would be funny, except for their serious implications. Thousands of dollars changing hands, lies upon lies and allegations of laws being broken.
And it’s not just the Liberal Party either, with members of the Labor Party including Tripodi and Roozendaal also being told to front up and answer questions on certain developments and allegations that they helped bring down one of their own MPs – Jodi McKay.
We need to keep that rail line at least until the smoke clears.
- John Brown, Greens candidate for Maitland
