After losing her sister to breast cancer the Telarah psychic had planned to raise money for research into the disease.
But tragedy was to strike again.
“We had all these expectations we would have this healthy grandchild but then my son rang and said ‘we’ve lost him mum’,” Ms Murray, 57, said.
Ethan Cooper Murray was delivered stillborn on October 25, 2011. He was full term.
“Because I am spiritual I kept getting these messages throughout the pregnancy that I was going to see Ethan but wouldn’t meet him. I had no idea what that meant,” Ms Murray said.
“I actually thought I might be the one that would be going.”
Mrs Murray has rallied the support of 12 readers to stage the Maitland Psychic & Soul Festival this weekend.
All entry proceeds will benefit the Stillbirth Foundation Australia for research and education into stillbirth prevention.
“I turned to the foundation when we lost Ethan because I needed someone to talk to,” Ms Murray said.
“We, as a family, have lost seven babies over the years and that’s a lot of emotion, a lot of grief and a lot of pain and it’s hard to get through.
“So if we can help one baby make it alive into someone’s arms that would mean so much to us.”
Since Ethan’s death, Ms Murray has been making small drums she believes represent the beat of a lost baby’s heart.
She now offers the drums to bereaved parents.
“If I can bring a little solace to someone in grief or help ease their heartache then that would be amazing,” she said.
The Maitland Psychic & Soul Festival will be held at Maitland Town Hall on Friday between 1pm and 9pm and Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 6pm.
