Ms Parker announced last week that she would not contest the state seat of Maitland at the general election in March, ending a 12-year political career.
Mr Baird said Ms Parker had always acted with honesty and integrity during her time in parliament.
“Robyn Parker has made an outstanding contribution to the people of Maitland, the broader community of NSW and the Liberal party,” he said.
“As Minister for the Environment she implemented significant reforms that will be of lasting benefit to the people of NSW, such as restoring the Environment Protection Authority as an independent cop on the beat with real teeth to go after polluters.
“Robyn’s passion and commitment for the Maitland community has always shone through.
“As the local Liberal MP she has been a breath of fresh air for Maitland after years of being taken for granted by the Labor party.
“Her significant achievements include the commitment of a new public hospital for Maitland and improvements to the New England Highway, as well as upgrades to local schools and sports facilities.
“I look forward to Robyn’s ongoing contribution in the government until March next year and wish her and her family all the very best for the next chapter of their lives.”
