The Akers family of Kennedy Street will host their third annual Halloween party.
About 50 children from the neighbourhood took part in the event last year and the Akers hope to better that number this year.
The family conducted a leaftlet drop in the neighbourhood to let people know what was happening and invite them to the party.
Katrina Akers said her children’s enthusiasm for the event was the catalyst for their involvement in the English holiday.
“I think it’s more the kids wanted to do it and I always said no because I didn’t know what they were doing,” she said.
“But then we thought, instead of two kids doing it by themselves, why don’t we just get a big group together and do it together?”
Mrs Akers said it was a good opportunity to build some old-fashioned community spirit.
“It’s a good area around here, it’s not really traditional Halloween but it’s a bit of fun for the kids,” she said.
“Our friends have invited their kids from school and other kids, so we don’t know how many people will turn up.”
There will be games and spooky activities in Kennedy Street from about 4.30pm and anyone interested is invited to attend.
The group will then go trick or treating from 5.30pm.
