About 100 Rotarians and their friends raised nearly $5000 through Cup celebrations.
Dressed in their best dresses and suits the revellers packed two vintage carriages chartered from the Paterson Rail Motor Society on an outing to Brisbane Water on the Central Coast.
The party alighted at Woy Woy and clambered aboard a boat to watch the race.
Money was raised from admission tickets, a raffle and sweeps the Rotarians sold throughout the day.
“The mood was really quite fantastic,” Maitland Rotary president George Williams said.
The money will help purchase equipment like morphine pumps and it’s not the first time Maitland Rotary has given money to the service.
“The club has decided to run with palliative care again this year,” Mr Williams said.
“A number of our members have experienced the care they [palliative care] gives whether through friends or family.”
Maitland Rotary is working on further fundraising initiatives for Maitland/Dungog Palliative Care in the new year which it plans on announcing in coming weeks.
