And first up – making his directorial debut – is Chris Briggs who at age 32 is the force behind the charming and vivacious farce Sex Please We’re Sixty.
“I am really nervous. In fact I’ve been a nervous wreck ever since I got this,” Briggs, of Lorn, said.
“It seemed like a good idea at the time, but then I quickly realised I have no idea what I’m doing.
“But I’ve always wanted to direct a show here because the repertory gave me my start in acting.”
Set in a bed and breakfast, Sex Please We’re Sixty tells the story of three women, a retired chemist and a little blue pill designed to increase the female libido.
“I love comedies and, luckily for me, the people in this show are very easy to get along with,” Briggs said.
Psychological thriller Gaslight will hit the stage in April and has been described as a bridge between the plot-driven Victorian melodrama and the modern work of Alfred Hitchcock.
In June, director Amy Hill will put Maitland’s young people through their paces for the iconic Lewis Carroll tale Alice In Wonderland while, in July, Reamus Youth Theatre will present Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Sex Please We’re Sixty opens on February 11. For tickets phone 4931 2800 or book on online.
