Maitland is vying for a spot on the new Monopoly board called Here and Now.
It will feature cities from across the world and Maitland could be one of them, if it gets enough votes.
As players race around the board collecting passport stamps they can also buy places, such as Maitland, and charge visitor fees when opponents land on their locations.
The first player to fill their passport wins.
Get a vote in, or many votes, before it is too late.
Voting closes at midnight, New York time, on March 9 and the winner will be announced on March 19.
Maitlands across the world have jumped on board the Maitland4Monopoly campaign.
First to join our forces was Maitland in South Australia and then Maitland in Florida joined the ranks.
Both Maitlands are encouraging their residents to vote and the campaign has been featured in their local newspapers.
“Get voting,” mayor of Maitland, Cr Peter Blackmore, said.
“The benefits are going to be there for Maitland. In years to come people are going to be looking at a Monopoly game and say ‘I was part of that’.”
Visit www.votemonopoly.com and type Maitland into the Wild Card box.
Votes can also be shared on social media by using the hashtag #VoteMONOPOLY and our campaign tag #Maitland4Monopoly.
