The Mustangs got home in a nail-biter last week with a 67-65 last-minute triumph over the Central Coast Crusaders and will look to carry that momentum into the round 14 encounter.
Consistency has been something the Mustangs have been unable to master this campaign with no consecutive victories in their 4-7 win-loss record.
The Mustangs have won their second, fourth, seventh and most recent 11th fixture of the year but have lost the corresponding games in between.
Earlier on it was less of a concern for Maitland, shooting at 50 per cent after the opening four rounds.
However, more recent losing streaks of two and three have halted the Mustangs progress up the competition ladder.
Maitland sits on the edge of the top six alongside Hills and Sutherland, with all three sides boasting the same 36.36 winning percentage.
The overall standings make the upcoming encounter with Sutherland even more important for the Mustangs as they jostle for a spot in the play-offs.
Terrell Turner, Wayne Brown, Adi Causevic, Jack Edwards and Goran Veg were in good touch for Maitland last start.
Tip off against the Sharks is 7pm.
