The Redbacks defeated Valentine 4-0 in the First Division under 23s grand final at Weston on Sunday.
Kyle Duncan opened the scoring 15 minutes into the decider before a double to James Purazeni either side of half-time gave Thornton a three goal buffer.
Redbacks skipper Mitchell Kiczynski sealed the result with a fourth in the 69th minute.
In other First Division grand finals, Wallsend beat the recently promoted Valentine 1-0 in first grade while Lake Macquarie made it a double by overcoming Valentine 2-0 in the under 19s and Cooks Hill 2-1 in the under 17s.
And in the National Premier League the Weston Bears played out a 1-all draw with Edgeworth in the second leg of their under 19s semi-final, but the minor premiers went down 2-1 on aggregate.
This weekend’s NPL top grade decider will feature Hamilton and Edgeworth
after they knocked out Lambton and Broadmeadow respectively.
