The club were able to use Bulahdelah Showground for their showjumping competition and the grounds will be ideal according to the committee.
The event organisers expect some high-level riders in the more difficult height classes, with the 1.2-metre class almost full, and the same can be said for the 1.35-metre Grand Prix.
Juniors, young horses and newcomers will also be well-represented, with classes ranging from 60cm to one metre for confidence building and fun.
HVSJC president Sue Middleton said she expected 70 riders to compete in two rings over two days, with some riders to compete on multiple horses.
International competitors Vicki Roycroft, David Robertson and Krissy Harris will compete for first place in the elite classes and to take home some prizemoney.
Despite the professional presence, Middleton said the club tried to have multiple class divisions so that amateurs and juniors did not have to compete against elite riders, but they also encouraged a diverse field for the competition.
“We believe it is beneficial to run events that have riders new to the sport and elite level competing at the same event to provide inspiration and exposure to all riders in attendance for the general development of riders, horses and the sport as a whole,” she said.
Middleton added that although some competitors would have to travel further, riders were in for a tremendous weekend of competition.
“Members, committee and visiting competitors are looking forward to a great weekend’s jumping in a lovely friendly environment with excellent quality courses and equipment,” Middleton said.
