This year the ride, which raises money for the Variety children’s charity, will pass through Maitland as part of a new route that takes in the beautiful views of the east coast.
“The Variety Cycle is more than just a bike ride; it gives participants an exclusive insight into Variety’s vital work and how their fundraising supports Aussie kids in need,” Variety children’s charity NSW CEO Tam Johnston said.
“Overwhelmingly, one of the highlights of Variety Cycle each year is cyclists being able to meet families en route, visiting schools and local communities to donate much needed resources and equipment along the way and in 2016 we aim to make this even more special than ever before.”
The new route for 2016 will see cyclists travel from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef, with participants able to take on the full 15-day ride, or choose their challenge with a range of one, two day and seven day routes.
The two-day route from Sydney to Maitland is always a popular one.
