New Orleans alternative rock band MUTEMATH and Chicago rapper Vic Mensa have cancelled their Groovin’ appearances and Australian sideshows.
In their stead, home-grown artists Jarryd James and What So Not will take the stage.
The announcement came on Wednesday as organisers announced the Maitland show had fewer than 1000 tickets left for public purchase.
Wraith-voiced Brisbane crooner Jarryd James won the ARIA for Best Pop Release with Do You Remember last year.
His meteoric rise over the last year has been fueled by plenty of air-time on Triple J.
It included a slot on the Like a Version segment where he turned garage-punk band Weezer’s Say It Ain’t So into a jazzed-up whiskey-sipper.
Sydney electronic act What So Not, known for collaborations with R.L Grime, Flume, Action Bronson and Future Classic, confirmed his attendance online.
The Sydney-based act has hit major festival bills recently including Coachella, Pukkelpop, Ultra and Lollapalooza.
Hits including Gemini (ft. George Maple), Jaguar, High You Are and Tell Me (with RL Grime) will no doubt be crowd pleasers.
MUTEMATH posted on social media that they were regrettably cancelling their tour due to unforeseen personal circumstances but did not elaborate further.
“We are so incredibly sorry to our fans that have bought tickets and made plans to see us,” the post read.
“We promise to do our best to reschedule a trip down under as soon as we can.”
Vic Mensa has yet to comment publicly on the cancellation.
Groovin’ The Moo will tour regional Australia starting in Maitland on Saturday, April 23.
The Maitland leg will have exclusive shows by Newcastle’s Eat Your Heart Out as well as L-Fresh The Lion, The Lulu Raes, Wafia and World Champion.
