At the centre of that big heart are mother and daughter administrative team Julie and Lisa Kelly who are determined the junior rugby league club will continue to be a strong focus for the community.
Club president Julie said the club had managed to survive for 42 years and everyone involved was working hard to ensure it not only continued but thrived into the future.
Despite some weeks only fielding 11 players, the Warriors’ under 15s made last year’s semi-final, after making the grand final the year before.
The boys are back this year in under 16s and are looking for extra numbers to go a step further and win the premiership.
“We’re really proud of them. They are not only good young footballer, but good young men as well,” Julie said.
“Football and the sense of belonging and pride they get from representing their community is really important for them.”
But the club has more than a football focus. On Easter Thursday children from across the community were treated to a visit by the Easter Bunny loaded with eggs.
The club, which fields under-16, under-10 and under 8s play kicks of its season on Saturday with away fixtures.
The under-8 and 10 teams train at Fred Harvey Sports Centre, next to Francis Greenway High School, on Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm-5pm and the under 16s from 4.30pm-5pm.
Players or people wanting to get involved with the Warriors can contact Julie Kelly on 0434 116 069.
