The students will perform contemporary dance to animate the Gallery’s exhibition about the book, which tells the story of how a boy befriends a mysterious creature.
25 junior and senior dancers from Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Kurri Kurri High School, Swansea High School, Whitebridge High School, Tarro Public School and Valentine Public School will all participate.
The students have attended workshops run by The Flipside Project since mid-March with professional choreographers Marnie Palomares, Cadi McCarthy and Emily-Kate Watts to create the dance In Search of the Lost Things.
Performances at the gallery will be on Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9, from 6pm until 7.15pm.
While performances are sold out, there are still positions avaliable in a series of Flipside Project workshops which will be held at the gallery on Saturday.
The exhibition features the book’s original drawings, working sketches and footage of animators and sound artists who created an animated version of the book under Shaun’s direction.
The exhibition at MRAG ends on April 24.
More information about the Flipside Project workshops is avaliable on the Maitland Regional Art Gallery Facebook page.
